Privacy policy: Daylight

This privacy policy applies to the iOS app Daylight. The controller is Samuel Mellert; address and contact details are in the legal notice.

If you allow location access, Daylight determines your location while you use the app and for its widgets, in order to calculate the sun times for it. The calculation takes place on your device only. The most recent location is stored on the device so that the widgets can use it.

To look up the name and time zone of your location, the app sends the coordinates to Apple’s maps service. When you search for a city, your input is sent to Apple as well. These requests go directly from your device to Apple; I do not receive the data. Apple’s privacy policy applies to its processing.

Saved places, the layout of the main screen and the chosen app icon are stored on your device only. They are removed when you delete the app.

Daylight has no user account and no server of its own, contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and transfers no data to me or to third parties, apart from the requests to Apple described above.

The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store; test versions through TestFlight. Apple itself is responsible for downloads, purchases and updates, and Apple’s privacy policy applies.

If you have agreed in your iPhone’s settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple provides me with aggregated usage statistics and crash reports. They contain nothing that would allow me to identify you. If you take part in a TestFlight test, I see the name and email address you were invited with and the feedback you send through TestFlight.
